Two ways to fly. One is obvious.

Dharamshala has no direct flight from Kolkata. You either fly to Amritsar and drive up, or fly to Gaggal (Dharamshala's own tiny airport) with a layover in Delhi. Same destination, very different trip.

No truly direct CCU→DHM exists — you connect via Delhi. Saves the drive but skips Amritsar entirely, and the Gaggal runway has a history of weather cancellations.

Why A wins given the new itinerary: You get mountains and Amritsar. Drive down on Fri 29 after three relaxed mountain days, catch the Wagah ceremony at 5:15 PM, and end the trip walking around the lit-up Golden Temple at night. Option B skips all of that to save ~2 hours.

Why Tue 26, not Mon 25: IndiGo direct runs Tue / Thu / Sat only. Mon 25 forces a Delhi connection and ~₹3,000 more per person. Losing one Dharamshala night gets you 3 hours back on both flights and ₹9,000 saved.

Why Innova for the ATQ run: Three adults plus luggage fit a sedan, but Himachal hairpins above Pathankot are more comfortable with the extra wheelbase and ground clearance on a 5-hour climb. Book via Gozocabs or CabBazar. Pay cash on arrival, not upfront.

Four tiers in McLeodganj. One in Amritsar.

Stay in upper McLeodganj (Main Square or above) — it's walkable, cooler, and close to the better cafés. Lower Dharamshala is hotter and needs a cab for everything.
